I have been in the ER three times in the past 6 days. The initial thought was meningitis, but after a clear spinal tap I was sent home. I have since returned for extreme headaches twice, finally treated with a blood patch last night.

Problem...still miserable...symptoms:
hot flashes (thermometer ranges from 97.9 to 100.4)
nausea
unable to eat
headaches (self-treated by 400 mg of caffeine as needed and up to 800 mg ibupofen--afraid they will be as extreme as before--trying to prevent)
fatigue
stiff neck (not severe though)
extreme back pain (from epidural)
in the past week, finished an antibiotic for a sinus infection (2 days before initial ER visit)
BP was 103/36 yesterday
Pulse was 47
less severe sensitivity to light and noise
irritablity (may be natural after 6 days in bed!)

Initial symptoms included:
chills
fever
sensitivity to light and noise
nausea with severe vomiting after 12 hours
neck stiffness
stiff lower back

any ideas? Thanks!

You need to see your doctor or at least call him/her right away with a B/P and pulse rate that low.
Plus you have N & V after 12 hrs.
My motto as nurse, if something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't.
Go to the ER right away. Some of your side effects are because your head is not right yet, meaning you haven't built up your normal amount of cerbral spinous fluid( which acts as a barrier, like shock absorbors on your car) so your brain is next to the skull.
Get someone to take you to the DR. Don't try to drive as you might pass out or be too slow to react.
I have been there. YOur doctor should be able to give you medication for your headache.
I don't know how much you weigh, but you could be taking too much Ibuprofen and burn up your kidneys.
Drink more water if possible, slowly sipping on ice

unfortuntely these symptoms could mean anything I have most of these symptoms with migraines and a friend has them also but with her we thought the were migraines as well but it turned out she was in an abusive relationship and suffered with whiplash. The bp and pulse is the scariest things on your list although I am sure they are all miserable to cope with. I would suggest getting into a general doctor to have a full work up.

I just saw this on tv, they thought a girl had menengitis, she was pregnant, I guess sometimes it can cause some of the same symptoms under the right circumstances.
