My daughters friend has hooked up with a very strange boyfriend. Your typical "bad-boy" type and then some. His entire family is probably kin to someone on the Jerry Springer show. Well this young lady has been suddenly getting strange phone calls saying that she better leave the boyfriend alone if she knows what is good for her. Apparently they are using a voice changer and she says it sounds like the scary voice on the movie Scream....I have to admit I never seen the show so I am only going by what I am told. I suggested that she go to the police but she is afraid to do that - why I dont know - so I thought maybe there would be another suggestion like maybe the cell company will trace the call? Her parents are in another state so she always ask my daughter and then me for advice. I think that she should have asked for the advice before hooking with the boyfriend but that is beside the point. Any suggestions?

Have her call the police. If they leave messages, have her save all voice messages and do not delete. If they don' t leave messages and she has a speaker phone capability, have her answer the calls, put it on speaker, and record the messages using a tape recorder. The police can trace the calls. Whoever is making the calls can be charged with phone harrasment.
If they are making any threats that attribute to physical harm, they can be charged with that as well.

She needs to go to the police. There is nothing else to discuss beyond that.
