If Junior cannot work out a deal for he, Kelly, and Kerry to assume control of DEI (as was Senior's plan when DEI was established).. then yes, he should leave. RCR would be his best candidate.

I have mixed feelings about him driving the 3 full time. I feel like if it is to be driven again, but don't think he should drive the 3 until his last years as a driver... just as he has said he would prefer.

No, he is not his dad... but it would be great to see that Big Black MC on the track again. The Talladega tribute cars were awesome this year (though it did not help his performance).

Rubbin is Racin!

if and when Dale jr goes to RCR he would drive the 3. Richard and Dale jr have already talked of this. Dale jr has said that he will indeed drive the number 3 before he leaves the Cup series.
As Budweiser goes, it is said that DEI has that sponsorship, yet with all the money spent on marketing with Dale jr and Bud, I am sure that Bud would go where ever Jr went. Bud has Jr on everything. Now they have the number 8 on beer bottles with the likeness of Jr on it.
Richard has said that there will never be another BLACK number 3, yet there are several different colors that could be used even like the white number 29 that won in Atlanta, just after Dale's death. a White number 3 with budweiser red trim and markings. I am sure the sponsor of the car would have a say so in when and where changes could be made.
DEI has rights to the number 8. RCR has rights to the 3. NASCAR has the ultimate say so with the numbers. There are a lot of scenarios that could play out in such a situtuation. Maybe Richards secret agent in the contract negotations is none other than Kelley???
DEI is a marketing technique, not a championship contender.

Go to RCR yeah, drive his dads old number only if he wants it. I dont know if he would really want to drive the 3 car, then again he is driving his grandpas number around the track so who knows. If he does it, I say go with the same paint scheme he has on the 8, and get it written into his contract if he gets majority ownership in DEI that he can have the 3 for his team.

I do but only if he get's control of DEI because no car owner has ever been a succesful driver at the same time. Not so sure about the #3 and if Budwieser stuck with him it couldn't really be black.

You can't race properly when you paid for the car. Ricky Rudd commented on that way back when he owned his own team for a couple year's. He said you start to worry more about preserving the car during the race and taking less chances.

Richard Childress said he may bring back the black#3 when the time is right. But he never hinted as to the driver.
As for Junior there is a ton of advertising ideas here but nothing solid yet.As for him driving fo RCR it could happen.

Dale Jr. is not good enough to ever sit behind the wheel of a # 3 car. When are you idiots ever going to get it through your heads? He is just a second rate driver that is only popular because of who his dad was. Look at where he is in the points, the guy really sucks!

i would love to see him race with RCR, but not necessarily with the 3. it would be great for the sport, but i don't think it would have a positive effect on Jr.

i have said that many many times...in my opinion he will leave DEI and drive for RCR in the RED 3 , and drive the BLACK 3 car for special races, DEI will fall completly apart after he leaves .

I think he should, then he could keep his mind on racing the car.He has many years down the road to run a business.Darrell Waltrip had to find out the hard way and wasted the last good years he had left by taking on more than he could chew.I hope JR. doesn't make the same mistake.

It would be cool and I know Budweiser would go to RCR with Jr. I think he will stay with DEI but i don't think it will be a smart move.
