How's it work, what connectors will I need, and what jacks do I have to have on the back of my TV? The instructions with the receiver aren't exactly the clearest . . .

Use the component video (green, blue and red)output from the DVD player to the TV, but keep in mind that'll only get you video through the TV. Yes, you have to buy a component cable. They run $15-20. Connect audio outputs from the DVD to corresponding inputs in the stereo using standard RCA (white {or black sometimes} and red) cables. In order for the audio to go through the stereo, make sure you have it on whatever setting you plugged the cords into (video, DVD, whatever).
