The 30-30 is a rifle round while the .357 is a handgun round, even though you can fire it out of the rifle.
The 30-30 develops much higher velocities than the .357 and will maintain better trajectory at two hundred yards.
About the heaviest .357 round you will find in your neighborhood gun store will be about 158 gr. Compare that to the 170 gr. 30-30 round. At 200 yards that 158 gr. bullet will drop almost two feet whereas the 30-30 will only drop about nine inches.
The 30-30 is the better hunting round, at any range.

Try a 308 Winchester in a bolt action it was designed to shoot that far an even much further.
Of the two you mentioned either would work well for 100 yards and the 30-30 even a bit further out to 150 yards.
But 200 is pushing both beyond there design limits on action and bullet.
If you were shooting a single shot or bolt action 30-30 ( which they do make) you would be able to utilize a Spitzer design bullet which has a better ballistic coefficient design.
Which is superior to the round nose utilized in the tube feed lever guns.
Then the 30-30 would make a clean 200 yard shot and still have the energy to enable a clean kill.
Where as the round nose design being less aerodynamic, it in turn uses up bullet velocity and bullet energy quickly over the 200 yard distance there by making it less likely to insure a clean 1 shot kill.
The 30-30 is the best choice of the two you listed but I would advise you keep it to 150 yards and forgo the 200 yard range.
But if you plan to hunt deer remember most white tails are killed at 75 yards or less and then either weapon would be fine for that form of hunting.
Hope you found this of some use.
That my two cents.

Absolutely forget the .357 for 200 yard shots. It is even 'iffy' with the .30-30.

a 30-30 with hornady leverevolution 160 gr ammo is a good gun it is flater shoting than a 357 and is as flat shooting as a 308 up to 275 yard i owned the 308 and the 30-30 and would go with the 30-30.

Of these two go with the 30/30. If you are looking to buy, get the new Marlin Leveroution 30/30, this with the new point tip ammo will get you the best distance and accuracy. If you already have the 30/30, you can still use the new ammo, and it will be more accurate than blunt tip.

I own both and I'd never try a poke out to a hundred yards with the .357 let alone 200 yards.

30 WCF is pushing things at 200, but at all ranges you can expect better performance on game than with the 357.
