I have 3 active dogs between 50 to 60 pounds. They each get 1 cup of dry in the morning about 7 and 1 cup in the evening about 5. They are active and have a good weight.
Some only feed their animals once per day. Twice is a good program. You could do even three times a day, but that would be difficult to keep up with. Just don't feed too much total for the day. If you use a cheaper food, you may need more. The higher grade foods require less per feeding. I use Natural Balance because one of my dogs has allergies to most foods.

I have two beagles at about 30 lbs, but they're not bulging at the belly. They did get up to 38 lbs, but I've been feeding my beagles once a day with about 1.25 cups, plus I walk them 30 minutes (minimum) a day. They used to get 1.5 generous cups a day.
I use science diet and the label recommends about 2 cups a day. I've found the instructions on the package to be high.
I recommend cutting back on the food slowly... feed about 1/4 cup less food for a month to see if there's any weight loss. The boys have been losing weight about 1 to 1.5 lbs a month at 1.25 cups a day.

It is your responsibility to monitor your dogs weight. Remember that the other name for a Beagle is "chow hound" and if it is offered they will eat it. (or is that 'even if it's not offered they will eat it')
it is only necessary to feed a 1.5 year old Beagle once a day, and they should be eating between 1.5 cups and 2 cups per day of a premium food. When adjusting a dogs diet it is best to make small changes and allow the weight loss/gain to happen slowly. If you try to reduce their weight to quickly you will find your dog yo-yoing between to fat and to thin.

I have a beagle to and he had the same problem. Just walk her everyday and put her on pedigree. If that doesnt work just lower the food rations alittle bit ( but not to the point to where you starve her!) and see what hapens from there.

I would check with her vet before doing anything, including the walking.
Make sure he approves of how much she eats,a nd when, and what!! and also the walking.
My beagle stayed trim her whole life and ate twice a day, but was active.
Beagles tend to eat alot, and put on weight.
:)

like we humans we can't go all day without food so you have to feed her at least twice a day. Morning and night, feed her a handful of dry food morning (small handfuls) and one at night, you can get a diet food from the vet also. no more treats either. You should walk her every day.

Put her on a weight control food and give her plenty of exercise. If you can find a dog park or someone else with a dog for playdates that helps.
