It is the employers job to tell you how much the job pays. If she is not willing to offer you an hourly wage, she is trying to see how cheap you will work. She knows what she is willing to pay.
Even though a nine year old can pretty much take care of himself, 6-7 hours is a pretty long shift. It is not easy being at another person's house when it is 10:00pm and you are getting tired and ready to relax. Remember these things when you are deciding how much your time is worth. I pay my sitters $8hr. for two kids or $10hr. for all three. This $7 or $10 a day is crazy! Does that even pay for your gas to drive over there? Ask for a high wage and then ask her "Is that in line with what you were thinking"? If not, she will let you know and you can decide if you are willing to work for her offer. Sorry to go on and on but I do not want you to be taken advantage of.

I pay $2 an hour for a licensed daycare to watch my 10 year old. In the summer I pay a weekly rate of $75 because they have him for 9 hours a day, 4 days a week and sometimes 5.
I think it really depends on the going rate where you live. I live in a small rural city of 5000 in western Nebraska. Ask around and see what other people in your town are getting and base your asking wage off from that. Good Luck.
Take into consideration how much the person makes. If I had to pay $5-$10 an hour I might as well stay home with my own child because you would get my whole paycheck. Why work?!?

Will he come to your house? Do you have your own kids? Is this every day of the week? What are your qualifications? Will you do activities with him? Depending on the above I would say Between $10-20 a day.

It really depends on your age and experience. You could go for min wage, if your young. But some people can get away with charging 10-15 dollars per hour.

I would charge about $5/hour if you are still in school. If you are out of high school, I would charge more like $50/day. Unless you know the family cannot afford it, then work something out with the parents.

I'd say $6 per hour. It's a bargain for the mom. If you are good at it, she may raise it in time. I'm mom to 3.

It depends on your age, experience, and where you live. I would suggest between 8 and 10 an hour.
