After you have the baby, usually about 6 hours after, they will put you to sleep. they will cut a tiny hole in your belly button and one just over your pubic area. They will inflate you with air. Then they will put you in stir-ups(they might do one leg while you are still awake so don't freak. It is so they can manipulate your uterus during the surgery.) They will use the two holes, one for a camera and one for a laser cutting tool. The whole thing takes 45 min. and is painless. The worst pain I felt was from the air they put in me, it causes a lot of cramping in your neck and shoulders. Most of the other pain will be from having a baby, so you won't even feel the cuts they made.

well I hade my tubes tied. Well actually they were burned. They usually sometimes do it after you give birth if you have a c- section. They may wait a few weeks until after your six week check up if you have natural child birth. The procedure is not that long. It takes about 40 minutes. Your sleeping the whole time. Modern technology has made so that you dont have to have major surgery. They make a small incision below your belly button and a small one near your bikini line. Small enough to put a few stitches. They fill your abdomen with air to inflate it so they can see thru a laproscopic thing. They are able to grab hold of the tube and tie them with this device. Im not sure how it happens, but thats what I know. They stitch you up and you recover . You may have soreness. If you ever had a c- section, then you can handle this soreness. U later go for your check up. I understand what you mean about wanting to stop having kids. I have 2 of my own and decided to stop early. The only thing that Ive heard is your tubes can unraval after 5 years.. so talk to ur doctor. Gods speed and I know you will do great!!

I dont have a def. answer but I suggest NOT to let the doctors do it as soon as you have the baby. Let your body recover then decide. I decided to have my tubes tied after my twins were delivered by c-section (baby 3&4) and its been four years and I regreat it. At that time I was set I didnt want any more kids. I would suggest mabe you get your tubes tied and mabe use birth conroll "just in case" you decide to have another baby done the road. You can allways reverse this. its very hard and pricy to reverse the burning of the tubes, some times you can't. One mothers advice to another, wait untill you are fully recovered from the birth of your baby and your hormones are back on track and your mind is SET.

Not really sure of the "procedure", but mine were done almost immediately after i gave birth (not a c-section). I don't really even remember going into surgery...gave birth, then the next thing I know I'm "waking up" & they said i was done with surgery....probably not any help.
