I have a terrier that's 9 months old. When I got him he was 2 months and I trained him to pee outside and things have been fine since. My roommate and I recently moved into a new apartment and the first night we brought him over he peed a little of the floor and we got him to stop. I took him outside and about ten minutes after bringing him back in, he peed on the floor again. He did it again a couple of days later in my roommates room and when she picked him up and took him outside he stopped. When she brought him back in, he started again. We're wondering if it has to do with the move in a new apartment, if he's angry, or if it's a bladder problem. I haven't noticed any changes in his eatting habits or drinking habits. The only other change that has occured is that he's been chewing on my roommates things and when he has peed in the apartment, it's right next to her. Anyone ever dealt with something like this and has any suggestions. All help would be great, thanks!

I went through a similar situation with my beagle when we moved into our new home. (She was about 11 months old at the time) I found that she stopped after 3-4 days when I showed her the door that meant "outside", and most importantly, found the spot outdoors that she was most comfortable with when it came to going potty. After repeating the same routine in the new apartment, your terrier should hopefully go potty outside with little trouble.

Remember he is still a young dog and he is possible nervous of a new house. Additionally, when you trained him at your old place you taught him to pee in an area probably using a reward system. The more he peed there the more it smelt like him and the easier it would be to teach him. Now you are in neutral territory either with no smells or worse still the dog or cat who used to live there before him smell and he will do his very best to cover the new territory. You need to go back to basics with him. Retrain him with rewards to make him pee where you want and make no fuss of him having accidents. Dogs like any kind of attention even bad. He should never see you clean them up. Use an enzyme degrading product to clean up the mess. Treat him the same as you did in the old apartment to the letter. Dogs hate change - change of house but especially change of routine! So dont fuss over him. Cheer up it will all work out.
