There are presently 4000 + naval personnel in-country/on the ground in IRAQ, with another 1000 being sent in the near future.

The numbers are growing as Navy personnel of every rate are sent to augment Army and Marine forces in Iraq and other countries.

The number is very low. We only have several factions of personnel actually on the ground in iraq. Mostly corpman(medics for the marines) chaplains, and our construction batallions.
If memory serves me correctly the number is less than 8000, out of 360,000 sailors on active duty
