No it is not too late and I encourage you to get her spayed. I dont know about any other animal, but it does not matter how old either a female or male dog or cat is, they can still get fixed. If you do not get her fixed, and she is a housecat, when she goes into heat she will act different and it could be hard to keep her indoors. She will start to make these high pitched, whiny sounding noises and roll around on the floor and rub up against furniture. And she knows that the only way she will get satisfaction (if you have no male cats in the house or if our male cat is neutered) is to go outside and find a mate. She will try to slip out the door when anyone goes in/our the door. Getting her neutered would be the best thing not only for her health and safety, but to help prevent pet overpopulation if she was able to succeed in getting out while in heat and comes home pregnant. If she is currently pregnant or nursing kittens, you have to wait until the kittens are weaned and her milk has dried up. GOOD LUCK

It is definitely not too late to spay your dog. She will probably be a much happier dog for it.
Spaying a female dog (or cat) reduces hormone fluctuations, which can help control any other conditions the dog or cat may have such as diabetes, epilepsy, or demodex mange. Spaying can reduce your dog's risk of breast cancer. Not spaying a dog can lead to Pyometra. Pyometra is an infection and accumulation of pus inside the uterus. It can cause the liver and kidneys to fail, and can be fatal if the animal is not spayed as treatment.
Whatever the risks may be for the surgery, the risks are far greater if you do not spay your dog. Besides, there are so many unwanted animals in the world and you dont want to add to that problem and a dog in heat(esterous) can be very determined to mate. Also, imagine how your dog feels when she goes into heat...she has this uncontrollable urge to mate and that can't be fun for her.

Not too late at all. The sooner the better. I was a veterinary nurse and worked in an animal hospital. Too many times I have seen dogs getting spayed at 10 to 11 years old because their uterus has gotten hard within the body. With that age in surgery and that large of a surgery it's best to take your pet in now. Not to mention you won't have to go through periods anymore with her. Where did you think it's too late? Even at 5 years it's not too late.

Are you asking if it is safe to have female dog spayed? If so it is perfectly alright to have dog spayed at this age, in fact I would recommend having it done as soon as possible. Dogs that are neutered or spayed are happier more content animals. It prevents many diseases in dogs such as testicular cancer in males and breast cancer in females. As long as the dog is healthy there should be no concern or problem. I have three male dogs and one female and all are "fixed". They are very happy, healthy pets....

not too late. You should do it. I had a very small dog (3lbs) I was afraid to spay her because od her size, and when she was 10, I almost lost her to a uterine infection. Non spayed females get this complication, and it can kill them quickly, plus when they get it the surgery bill is around $1200 or higher.

It is never to late to spay. If a female dog does not get spayed, they run the risk of developing mammary cancer in old age. I lost my beloved dog three years ago to the cancer.
Also, if you do not want puppies, don't take the chance that she could accidentally get impregnated.

It is not to late to have her spayed. She will come through it just fine. Any concerns you may have you can talk to your vet when you take her in. Just make sure it is a good vet and not one of those free clinics or the ones that spayed on Wednesday spayed while you wait kind of thing.

It isn't too late. They have older dogs from rescue and pounds spayed at an older age. In the long run, she will be healthier too. It is also the responsible thing to do.

No, it's not too late at all. I have adopted several adult dogs that were spayed/neutered in adulthood.
If you've had this dog 2 years, you should be ashamed you haven't done it already!
