Dejé de hacerlo (I gave up doing it) por la cuaresma. Don't use prestado - that means lent as in someone lent you their book.
If you're talking about something like giving up a food, then you would say "Dejé de comer chocolate (I gave up eating chocolate)...." or Dejé de fumar...." (I gave up smoking). You have to include a verb in the sentence like "to do" or "to eat" because it won't be as clear without it.

Neither is right, and I'm not about to tell you who is. All I can say is "ban those people who use automatic translators from this board".

It sounds like you gave up something a habit of food, drink or smoking while in the lent period.
(Lent is the period of fasting, penitence, and self-denial traditionally observed by Christians in preparation for Easter. )
If you gave up food(female) then you say " La deje de comer por la cuaresma." meaning that you probably gave up red meat during the 40 day period.
I gave it up (drink) - "Lo deje de tomar por la cuaresma"
