Everytime I try to do it, the present becomes the past. There's no such thing as the present, only the past and the future.

In order to be present you need to do two basic things.

1. Don't think about the past.
2. Don't think about the future.

Focus on the sounds around you, smell the smells around you. As thoughts come to mind, just cast them away and shift back to focusing on what is going on right in front of you. Focus on what is going on presently. It's all about focus. You need to focus on the sights, the sounds, the smells, the feel of things. Your mind will continuously try to take control and run it's own script taking your focus away from the present. Focus is the key to all success.

On the contrary, there is only the present moment.
It means to pay attention to what you are doing now, be in the here and now. The past can never come back and the future has not happened yet. That is, we can affect the future but not the past.

to live in the present moment means to...well..be focused on the present. If you're washing dishes, focus on that - nevermind daydreaming about being at the beach or mentally planning out tomorrow's wardrobe. Do that when it is time to plan out tomorrow's wardrobe. As someone else here said, use your senses more. Time flies by a lot more and you get tons more accomplished because other thoughts and plans don't weigh you down.

The past doesn't exist, only memories of the past exist in the present. The future doesn't exist, only expectations of it exist in the present. Even if you're thinking about the past or the future, you're doing it in the present. You have no choice but to pay attention to the present, you're just not usually aware that you're doing it.

The past is gone-history , the future hasn't arrived and its not promised to any man, so it leaves right here and now, to live and breath you can remove the brunette wig off your avatar, we know, you are really a blond incognito !

baron, inchespes es? to live in the present is to be aware that now is the moment God is creating, loving, redeeming, present. This moment, this place, not another moment, another place. This you, not the you that was (that's past) nor the you that will be (who knows what tomorrow will bring).

it means not planning for the future.

i think it's living and using up most of your resources without plans for the time after the near future.

Use your senses more in your daily life.

When eating really look at your food, smell it, concentrate on your bite and how it tastes, feels in your mouth, etc.

Look at nature and contemplate its exiquite beauty and life.

And most importantly.........BREATHE DEEPLY and COMPLETELY.
