You're right. Most of the time, being yourself really doesn't get people anywhere. I think most of the time if you really want to achieve something there are ways of getting there. You just have to do it the way its done. Being yourself is usually just a way of avoiding things.

Being true to who you are is important when it comes to relationships. Having a good work ethic is a different animal. You need to be yourself if you want to find a compatable mate, but if you want to be successful in supporting yourself and being independant...yup, you have do what someone else wants you to do for 8 hours + a day...unless the person you are, is someone who CAN do what they like and make it lucrative.

I think being yourself is the best and only person anyone should be. If you are not being yourself, then who are you? Someone else. Fake.

yes ,but being yourself and not pretending to be something you are not . get's you further in life . People will like you better for who you are .

No if you actually listen to the saying "be youself" closey, maybe you wont have a hard time seeing through it if you know what i mean
