Definately go with AP. It looks so great on college applications and transcripts and even for trying to get a job while you're in high school. You will have to do some extra work, but it will absolutely pay off. I guarantee you will regret it if you don't take the challenge.
Good Luck. =]

If you're in high school, talk to your Guidance counselor, but read all the rules for yourself! We got, pardon the word, screwed by my son taking too many honors classes. The g.c. wasn't much help. He pushed for kids to take honors classes.
Big mistake. Don't take more than you need.

No one looks at whether you did or not take honors on your transcript! EVER!! You are the only that will ever care if you took them. Forget it. My son felt like he was letting himself down and wanted to challenge himself; forget that. You gotta get with the system.

In our system, you get an increased grade in high school for taking an honors class, but college does not consider that.
So it is for naught. Yes, you will have gained knowledge, but also will be more stressed with more homework, etc.

You will be taking harder classes while other kids take the regular classes, and they usually end up with a higher GPA.
THAT is what everyone will look at and what most of THE COLLEGE money you recieve is mostly based on.

My son had more honors credits than the Valedictorian, but the Val. had a higher GPA. We just didn't know the system.
At his university, we thought his ACT would count more than GPA in high school, since it is overall knowledge, and the GPA can be brought up with easy classes.Wrong again.
He made a 29 on his ACT, but kids with lower ACT's and higher GPA's got higher scholarships.

So check it out, and don't be surprised like we were. In our system in south La, it was the difference between thousands of dollars. Between his full college career being paid for and it not.

Good luck to you!
