I think it means that we sometimes take life too seriously.

My favourite quote is
"aut viam inveniam aut faciam"
I have it tattooed on my left sholder blade. It's in Latin and it means I'll find a way or make one.

My other favourite quote is "what nurtures me also destroys me"

Some of us human types tend to think that our lives and all of our suffering and problems are new and serious and must be solved or understood before we can relax, lighten, and have fun in life. If there is an Almighty Intelligence which is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient then for what are we so worried. We may be here to learn and grow, but can anyone really conceive of a powerful Father putting a beloved child into a situation which is too difficult, too frustrating, or in some way too much for us to handle. If we can let up, lighten up, and see some humor and poignancy in all of our predicaments, then that opening can let the fresh air of wisdom and faith into our lives.

God is teasing us, trying to entertain us by being funny and we don't get it. We're afraid to laugh! Why? Are we afraid to offend God? Or are we too dense to get the jokes?

"An audience afraid to laugh" is an audience up tight. Soo does that mean we're afraid of God? Or does it mean that we're too tense, too stressed to just relax and enjoy God's sense of humor?

Believe me he does have a sense of humor, he made me and you!

That quote makes me think of my boss at work. We are sitting at the sales meeting on pins and needles. If sales are good we will all let out a great sigh if bad we cringe. The boss comes in we hold our breath he tells a knock knock joke. Until we know what are sales are (or relate this to the quote until we know if we are heaven or hell bound) we dare not laugh least one of us be the first to receive a foot in the bum.

My favorite quote is by Ben Franklin... "It is easier to supress the first desire than to satisfy all those that follow." I enjoyed that one because Ol Ben was quite the philandering ladies man so its sweetly Ironic to think of him saying such pious words.

I think this quote can be taken in many ways. This is how I see it...

Basically, it is saying that God is in control of the "audience", or the world, and the people can't do much about it. Humans are being controlled by a force and constantly worry about it. They don't embrace it, they fear it.

Well the audience is the human race so the rest is pretty self explanatory . . .
Sort of > > Life is a joke but humans are uptight with fear .

Meaning life is really happy, but we refuse to look at the "funny" or "happy" side of things . Instead we dwell on what is negative and therefore we remain sad.

" Being happy is a state of the mind."
