What kind of traits must there be in this God for you to believe in Him?

If He exists, how different would this world be like?

No God ever described is relevant. In order to be relevant, God would have to intervene in natural laws from outside of nature. However, if God did so, the very act would make scientific study impossible, because every result could be interpretted as possibly an act of God rather than an experimental result.

Additionally, the fact that disasters happen indicates that no CARING God exists. And any God that does not care is not relevant to my life.

But I prefer a world that is discoverable, and so I'm quite happy without any God.

Um... none. The only trait I would require is evidence and a physical visit once in a while. I don't know how different things would be. Maybe the believers wouldn't be arguing all the time about whose god is the true god. Maybe there could be lasting peace.

I think all god's in the history of man kind were used to explain the unexplainable. For example, what we call Indian myths, they called religoin...and most of their myths are about how this was created by the rain god, and why the sun god does this. So, in that case, I also think the Christian god is a myth. Some "higher power" used as an explination to explain what was at the time, the unexplainable.

The world would be no different because if there were a god or gods it would be the same as it is now. A little evidence would need to be forthcoming to show that gods existed outside the fertile imaginations of humans for me to accept that gods exist.

With evidence, of course, there is no need for faith or belief. It is only when there is no evidence that you need to believe. Consequently I can't think of anything that would make me believe in gods.

This god would actually be involved in world events. He would actually sit down with world leaders and offer advice with them... in person, mind you- anyone can say that god said anything they wanted him to say... if there's a god there to deny it and sue the guilty party for slander, I think there would be a lot different political system throughout history.

This god would actually be involved with human rights and preservation of the Earth. He would be able to stop in and say "hey! you're f-cking up! KNOCK IT OFF!"... That would be a heavenly father to me...

On top of it- he would finally shut those people up who think they are on the one and only path to the lord himself, and nobody else is worth s-it till they convert.

Kinda like the guy at Walmart. Low pay teenager with a bad attitude. If He existed, He would've been fired by now.

I believe george carlin said it best:

"If you must worship something, try the sun. It provides life and warmth and without it, we would be nothing."

Thats not a exact quote but its the gist.

If your looking for a more humanish god, how about this.

God says, Love me or not, BUT be good to each other, love they neighbor, do unto others, and go to heaven.

Simple enough i think.

"God" is a concept, and concepts have no ontological status. They do not have an existence in reality apart from their status as a concept. I have no concept of "God" that is what makes me personally an Atheist. Such a concept would be of no use to me.
