My female cat never used to like being around people much, except at night where she always stole all the room in the bed. But in recent months (and she's almost 8 years old) she has been hanging around more and more. There are days when I can't seem to get away from her, and she even sleeps on our laps now. She never used to do that.
We can't really figure it out either I just had to let you know you're not the only one.
I do have a theory for my cat though. She's never liked kids much, used to spend a lot time hiding even though my kids aren't the rowdy type. She just doesn't like little people. Well now, almost 8 years after getting her, my kids aren't so little anymore. I think she's finally starting to like them, because when my niece and nephew come over she hides and if one should happen to walk past her she won't hesitate to attack their legs.

Awwww, Ashes sounds soooo cuuuute. I have seven cats, and they squabble for my attention. It drives me nuts sometimes, esp. when I come homee from work. I keep a squirt bottle at the head of my bed and zap 'em with it until I get at least 15 minutes of solitary down time, then I let 'em come over and try to pet 'em all at the same time. I have a funny little stuffed caterpillar with big stuffed feet that is attached to a little toy rod and reel. I stand in the middle of the living room (that has hardly any furniture in it, a big open space) and whirl the caterpillar around in a big circle above my head...the cats all gather in a circle around me, and as the caterpillar whirls around in a circle overhead, they all do the "Kitty Wave" as they jump up and try to catch it. Very hilarious. And keeps them all busy all at the same time. Catnip works, too; they get all silly wiggling around on the floor for about a half hour then pass out. Giving me a little more down time.

Yes, my cat has been sleeping with my wife and I for a very long time. I don't need an alarm clock, she seems to know when to wake me up.
If you've ever seen movies of lions in Africa, you'll see them laying all over each other.
Your cat feels that you are part of his "pride" a group of lions is called a pride) He feels comfortable and safe with the familiar feel and smell of you. Some cats become more distant as they age, but my cat still sleeps with us every night. And she doen't mind if she gets pushed around the bed at all.

i actually desire your little lady receives more beneficial useful quickly. My mom breeds and shows Rag Dolls in the united kingdom - they are surely acceptable. after I were given my cats right here in Germany I bumped off all homestead flora as I wasn't particular which may be poisonous. I went to a really vast backyard centre and requested for advice on which flora i might want to appropriately exhibit. They were honestly no help in any respect. truly unusual as many flora may also be poisonous for little ones. So now I in undemanding words have man made flora in the rooms the position the cats bypass. i purchased truly real searching ones and the plus aspect is i do not ought to you should truthfully water them!! once back i am hoping your little lady receives nicely quickly.

My cat Arjie is 12. He demands attention by meowing continuously, looking at you, especially in the morning when you want to sit down and relax a while.
He, of course takes over the bed. Not only so, he lands on top of me. No matter how you twist and turn, he won't slips.
He seem to know time. In the morning, at 8am, he will jump on top of you and meow near your ears. When he jumps, obviously, heavy foot-steps.
When you talk on the phone, he will come over and seek attention, only until you pad him on his head, he won't stop meowing.
He is a persian cat.

My cat used to be heaps more independent when he was younger... he still is but to a lesser degree. Since he turned 7 (he is now 9), he has become more attached to my presence and company. He wants me to share in just about everything he does. He sleeps with me (under the covers), wants me to take him out for walkies, stay with him in his outdoor enclosure (I read a book while I sit on a driftwood in there), calls me to play with him with his little "mousies," hangs out by me when I am on my computer or when I am watching TV. I think as your cat gets older, you become his all-in-all companion and it isn't so much the cat's need for attention but his need to share the joys of cathood with you - his beloved companion.
Aren't cats the best of freinds ever?

Yes, to an extent. When I get home from work, or haven't been home for a while, she is all about getting me to pet her. But after a while she gets tired of it and tells me by giving me a nice bite or scratch. I have also noticed that she loves getting attention in the morning and will wake me by nudging me to get me to let her under the blanket. She also lays on my feet under the blankets, which get uncomfortable, but it is still cute.
