One of several ways:

1. Turn your computer on with the diskette in the drive

2. If that doesn't work, put the diskette in the drive and manually go to your boot menu. At the BIOS screen (the screen that first appears when you first turn on your computer, usually says your CPU's brandname) hit F2 and make sure the diskette drive is 1st on the boot sequence and then try again.

3. All computers have a different way to get into the boot menu, on most Dell's it to hit F12 at the BIOS, on Gateways I think its Delete, or shift + Delete. If you can't find out how just Google: computer make and model + boot menu.

After you get the Boot Menu select Floppy Diskette Drive, and follow the instructions.

Good Luck, I hope your aware that Microsoft no longer supports Windows 2000, so its hard to get any updates.

first make sure your puter will boot from the floppy disk frist

put the disk in the floppy drive.. swich on and it should boot from the floppy on prompt it will ask you
(1) boot with cd support
(2) boot without CD support

once it has booted with or without cd support you can do a harddrive format.. by typing format c:

next insert the cd in the drive reboot the system select boot with cd support
let it boot up
at the prompt = A:/ or a:/
type d:/ d is or should be the cd drive... at the prompt.
d:/ type in setup or install I forget which it is for 2000
looks like >> d:/setup
looks like >> d:/install

one of these will start the 2000 installation
watch the installation procedure you will have to put some input in like country, keyboard type date ans so on
