Hey guyz, I've recently joined the track team on my team and I've been wearing my basketball sneakers to run with and they're just way too heavy and they're slowing me down and hurting me. My coach told me to buy running sneakers and I went out to buy them but I don't know which one to buy. People inside recommended me using the following sneakers;

asics GT-2120 from Duomax I think..
Air Max 360's
Nike Free
and the 992's from New Balance

which do you recommend me running with and if you guys recommend other sneakers, it would also be great.

Thank you.

I have some Asics GT-2080, which is an older version of the one you mentioned. I have really liked running in them. They have a good cushioning that is not too hard in the heel. The Duomax is not the brand name, "Asics" is the brand name. Duomax is a feature that the shoes have two different hardnesses of material in the sole. The grey material is harder than the white. I read similar questions to yours on the track website below, and I think Asics seem to be a favorite of runners.

New Balance makes very good durable shoe. My son has them, and they are very sturdy. Some people say that they are heavier. You can compare that when you are in the store.

I have seen Nike free in the stores, and they are incredibly flexible, but a lot of people warn you about them because they do not have a lot of support for your feet.

You really need to try a bunch of these on and see how they feel. Make sure that you don't worry about the size. If your sneaker size doesn't match your shoe size, it's no big deal. Find sneakers that are big enough that your feet are comfortable in the shoe, because you will be putting a lot of miles in during practice.

Hope you have a good season!

Some shoe retail stores ave a 'running diagnostic program.' they will give you tests to help determine what shoe is right for you. The store 'the athletes foot" uses this system. Finding the right shoe, not just the right brand name can reduce injuries while running. Everyone runs different, so if you want the perfect sneaker for you, you should get your feet tested.

NBs are good for running i think they use em in the military. Nike shoxx are the most comfortable sneakers ever, but I use those for everyday and not for running.

Probably avoid the nike frees.

I run with a pair of mizuno's and they work smashingly- they also have a good value generally. my opinion is, for your money, you can't really beat mizuno.
