fungi have action potentials...i.e. nerve-like activity but I wouldn't go so far as saying that have a "nervous system."

no, the only organisms with nervous systems and animals. This does not mean that other organisms cannot respond to stimuli, they just dont have nerves.

For sure! Once I ate some mushrooms in a farm and they started talking to me. But don't bother, only silly things about the weather and maids.
