1. Make sure you aren't outnumbered
2. Are you ready? If it's in the middle of the night, or you've had a few drinks, maybe it's not the best choice to even begin one.
3. Are you really that pissed at your opponent? If so continue.
4. Is it fair? If you suspect your opponent to have a gun or concealed weapon, then don't try.
5. If your opponent charges at you, do not charge back, you'll only lose precious energy; simply dodge until he is somewhat worn out.
6. At the moment he breaks a sweat or starts to breathe more heavily, this is when his guard is down. He may put his fist to block you, but the strength will be much easier to overcome. If he blocks your shot, quickly thrust your other hand from below up his ribcage temporarily knocking him out of breath. Serious concussions can lead to fines, so make sure that if a police asks, "It was purely in self-defense".

It depends on what you mean by "Fist Fight." For example, if it is just your fists who are fighting, you have a better chance if you've drawn eyes on your fists so they can see their opponent. Remember, the more eyes the better! Also, bigger fists are an advantage because they have more service area to provide more damage. Sometimes it is even good to give your fists clothing so that they aren't embarrassed by their image when fighting. This is especially important for very vain fists who don't like to be seen naked. Remember to keep all of this in mind to be successful when it comes to real fist fighting!

With bare knuckles against another guy on the street. Neither have much training, or have a grudge/vendetta to settle. The best way to win is hit hard, hit fast, HIT FIRST. The first four or five punches usually win the fight. If you can pound the fight out of a guy right away, you don't have to make a long drawn out brawl. End it fast, shown him that you won't be pushed around, then offer to buy him a drink. If you want to do serious damage (you fear for your safety!) punch him in the thoat and when he brings his head down gasping for breath, put a knee in his face. Then look to see if anyone else is going to jump you. You may have to improvise the rest.

Don't provoke a fist fight. The best way to win is use there "moves" against them. Also, karate is for defense, not kicking peoples butts.
Lol, Crazy's answer is funny.

-Keep your guard up
-Keep moving
-Use various parts of your body as weapons. Hands, feet, head, knee, elbow
-Strike areas that can distract to open better targets. Kick the shin or knee to open the head.
-Don't punch or strike for homeruns (knockout) it will expose you too much.
-Be relaxed, someone who is pumped full of adrenalin will make stupid mistakes. Control the adrenalin surge and stay smart.
-Know your surroundings. Are there friends around? Is there things around for this person to pick up and hit you with? Are they possibly packing a weapon?
-If it goes to the ground (which it probably will) keep your arms in close and keep your guard. Headlocks accomplish nothing but open up the person doing it.
-If you are getting pounded and you are loosing your will to fight, there is no shame in giving up or running away. Just resolve the reason for the fight after and take your bite of humility. If you win, don't dance over them, beat them more, go after their friends or any other stupid crap. Offer them some help and you might make a good friend out of your once enemy (happened a few times for me).

There is no one way. But the best general advice is to be mentally prepared for the violence that is about to happen and to not be distracted or think the fight is over when it isn't.
Other than that, it could become a grappling match, there might be chairs involved, there are whole video series answering this question.
Bas Rutten has a good series on street/bar fighting.

well one way is to avoid them in the first place. once you reach a certain age, fist fighting is stupid. I mean if your 20 years old and you find yourself constantly getting in fights, you need to reevaluate your life.

Don't get in a fist fight in the first place. I would start by not asking women to "*** me or i'll rape you." just a suggestion...

Strike first, strike hard and finish him off. You want to get the first good lick in before your opponent runs you over and ties you up. If you hit the ground you better have a ground game to defeat him as well.
