Well, I believe parents need to bring down the iron hand of olden days with more spankings, and harsher punishment.

Most certainly peoples behavior will only get worse. Somewhere in the 60's or so, parents quit teaching their children how to be responsible members of society. Those children became known as " The Me Generation ". They had, as a rule, no sense of social responsibility, no manners, or consideration for anyone or anything except their own immediate gratification. These people are now Grandparents. That means there are now at least two generations of parents with no or very few morals. They cannot teach their children what they don't know, therefor each successive generation gets a little worse than the last. Don't get me wrong as there are some very considerate and responsible young people out there, they're just hopelessly outnumbered by the ones that are without consideration for anything.

Yeah, I do think that children and young people will become more rebellious because kids today have access to more things especially through the Internet or the phones that have Internet connections. Anyway, there are people who these kids connect with via e-mail who supply them with whatever they need. Kids as young as ten years old are trying to be sixteen or even older - these kids are growing up way to fast! Parents need to go back to teaching their kids the basics and teach their kids the old-fashioned way no matter how much times change. I believe that parents need to stop being lazy and stop giving up on parenthood and do the right thing for that child and to enrich that child's life. I think parents give up on their children when the child gets older or after a tragic event but that's not even fair to the child because parents are being selfish when this happens. If a tragic event occurs, a parent needs to see their loved one in that child or find comfort in knowing that they'll see their loved one again someday. Think of the child and what they need from you. Parents need to wake up but if you're a parent whose doing your job, you have nothing to worry about.

I do not believe that teenagers are becoming more rebellious. Yes, some are completely out of hand, but there have always been those who are completely out of hand, they may have been dealt with more harshly in the past but no matter.
If a teenager wants to be a good role model they will be. It seems to be more based on what kind of attitude the parents have regarding their children and how they handle them. So maybe the initial problem does not lie in the child's lap but in the parents. There are many shows and books nowadays that are out there to help parents raise their children, maybe they should do their own homework so that they don't have to spend so much time yelling at their kids to do theirs.
Often times it is the friends that teenagers acquire that help to determine their attitude and demeanor in life. Friends help create and protect from "peer preassure" it is not cool anymore to smoke cigarettes and drinking can often times be looked upon as a stupid waste of time that could be better spent preparing for college or hanging out with friends who aren't going to lead you into such stupid activity.

Until parents start to care about there children, I would say yes. I am aware that not all parents are bad, even when there children go through some hard times, but alot of times they are.
Not all teenagers are bad though. I am 19 and can honestly say I have never drank and have never done any type of drugs. I do not get into trouble and college is number 1 for me right now. I dont want to screw up somthing and have it affect the years to come, the children I one day want to have, my career, etc. But it does seem like most are into that sort of stuff, and its sad. Seeing these young teenagers screwing up there life without them even knowing it, and thinking its just "being a teenager". Theres a time to have fun and a time to just grow up.

Yes and no. I think every generation goes through the cycle of "children these days are unruly." Some of it comes back to parenting, but alot has to do with times progressing. In the 50's older people didn't understand rock and roll. In the 60's it was marijuana and protesting. In the 70's it was glamour. In the 80's it was excess like money and cocaine. In the 90's it was ecstasy and heroin. Now it's everything. Every generation is responsible and has helped "push" the boundries of whats acceptable even further.

I think Western culture spends 80% of its time predicting it's own demise, and panicking all the time about problems that have always existed but for some reason each generation thinks their experience is more "real".
I will say though that when i go and pick my kids up from school - and observe the children and parents- i do have my worries.

I do believe with all the exposure to media and instant contact with the world(cyberspace) and the content of films and everyone knows the drug war is lost--they will become more rebellious and violent. It's the culture we live into day.

Unfortunately, the breakdown of the value system has led to this predicament of the younger generation. Nobody knows what is good or bad anymore. It's "cool" to take drugs, nerdy to be a goos student. It's cool to sleep around; prudish to want to marry and settle down. I mean, what is wrong and right anymore?

The Scriptures tell us that in the last days men shall wax worse and worse. What makes me sad is that not only are our young people using drugs but they are giving birth to babies hooked on drugs already or have alcohol syndrome. It is sad isn't it. Mmm
