I've lived in Toronto 10 years.

O.K. You've got a few main streets: Yonge, Spadina, Bathurst, King, Queen, etc.

So far, so good. King and Queen, sure, that's cute.

If you've got King and Queen parallel to each other, then why not a Prince, Princess, Jester, etc. also? That would be a lot more fun.

Still, bearable.

Then you get these really stupid names up in North York: Paul Markway, Red Robinway. There are what seem to be hundreds of streets named this way.

Why not Paul Mark Way? What is a Markway, exactly? What's a Robinway? How about Red Robin Way?

Perhaps the lamest street naming in Toronto goes to the small streets found around major intersections. So, around Bathurst and Finch, you've got Finchurst. Leslie and Don Mills, Les Mills. Are we that dumb? Is it that hard to find a name?

So, Toronto's got all these problems due to lack of creativity.

What's really bad is when you visit some of the other towns and cities in Ontario:

All the other towns use the same names!

It's like there's no creativity in this province.

You go to another town, and, hey, guess what, the main streets are King, Queen, and Dundas all over again!

Why?

Other parts of Canada don't do that! Why does Ontario do that?

It's so..... boring and characterless.

At least Toronto and Ontario are good names, but when it comes to street names, man, this place is bad! I live just around the corner from Wilred and Alfred. Just who exactly was in charge of putting those names there? It sounds like some guys at City Hall back in the 1800's just gave the streets their own names for a joke. Possibly the most creative street names in Ontario.

I have also noticed this and I agree. I live in a town called Milton, it's about 40 minutes west of Toronto. It's a small town (but growing), the population is about 68,000. These are the names of the main roads in our town:

Commercial St
Ontario St
Bronte St
Steelees Ave
Derry Rd

The street names in the residential areas of the town are just as worst. I live on William ave, then there is Sarah St, King St, Queen St, Oak St, Maple Ave.

The street names of cities and towns in the US are much more interesting (Except the lage ones like Chicago, NY, LA ... 82nd st, etc). I have relatives who live in Raleigh, NC and here are some of the names of the main roads in the city:

Whitaker Mill Rd
New Hope Church Rd
Avent Ferry Rd
Spring Forest Rd
Falls of the Neuse Rd

I honestly don't care much about street names, but I think it makes things more interesting to use creative names.

On behalf of the city of Toronto Ontario. i will lead you to 3 large places to bypass to. Air Canada center, Rogers center, CN Tower, thats all in that one section. make a journey a touch north to downtown Toronto which incorporates The Eaton center, and Yonge and Dundas Sq, The Royal Museum, The technology center, The artwork Gallery of Ontario, Queens Park that's a good snigger at politicians. Wonderland, The Metro Zoo. The record is going on yet Harbor front interior the summertime with the exterior stay shows by way of the lake and busker gala's is rather energetic. large bars too. Ontario place by way of the lake is a snigger too. you may no longer bypass incorrect come to Toronto you may have exciting

And where are you from where the street names are SO creative? Most cities have a Main Street, Church Street, etc. At least we don't name them by numbers (East 68th, 9th) The ones with 'way' tacked onto them are usually townhomes, and many streets are named after influencial people. Perhaps one day there will be an Elmo Tickleway!

Relax, they are just street names. Naming streets 1st Ave and 3rd Street etc. is much more creative.
