The EFC is how much money your family is supposed to provide for your college education.

Basically they figure out how much it'll cost you to go to college.
Then they figure out how much your EFC is. This amount affects how much help you'll get from them. They basically subtract that amount from the amount they could give you.

You cannot find out how much money you are going to get until you receive your award letter.

You can go to www.finaid.com
or www.fafsa.gov.edu
for more information.

Or you can go to any local college/universities financial aid office and ask to see a financial aid counselor. You can also call their 1-800 #.

Your EFC is a number that The Department of Education will give you based off of your income, spouse/parent income, and how many dependents are in your household. The EFC you have is a higher EFC, but it is still qualified for certain grants. You would be eligible for a Pell Grant with that EFC, it may not be much, but hey... it's still some. Also, depending no your state, there are probably state grants available to you. If you have any more questions, please let me know.
