I don't see what being a realist has to do with kicking out a seventeen year old who got pregnant. What makes that logical, or an absolute truth? The reality is the teenager made a choice that will forever alter her options in life. You can kick her out or help her through it, no one option if more realistic than the next. What you're upset about here, it sounds like, is that there are more people out there that have a different view of the world than you would. You don't like that others aren't conforming to your opinions? You're not seeing truth as far as I can tell (not by your example anyway) you're seeing opinions. The only things that are absolute in life are the things that cannot be changed. There are so few of those things I can hardly think of an example. You can't change the past, and that is about the only absolute reality there is. Everything else is opinion, choice and chance. Nobody can make everybody agree on these.

I am also a realist, but you have to learn to see both sides regardless. Realistically, kicking out the young lady for getting pregnant is punishment for doing something against the rules. However, realistically, kicking her out also ensures that both her and the child have little to no chance of a successful life and therefore, become a burden on the rest of society. A proper solution finds a middle ground and enforces it, such as allowing her and the child to remain, but forcing her to remain in school and get a job. She will have to learn responsibility, but on her own, she will fail and have to either rely on the father of the baby or welfare. Most people live in their own fuzzy little world and want nothing to do with reality. I have found it easier to only share my true opinions on anything with people who think like me.

There is realism, but there are also such things as love and forgiveness, and understanding. What is the world without them?
And as for the case of the 17 year old, I don't agree with you and I know why other people do too. A 17 year old is still a child, who needs the love and guidance of their parents. Yes she made a huge mistake, yes she is ruining her life, but her life would be even furthur ruined if she were left to fend for herself in such a vulnerable position. I would never bo so cold-hearted to do that to my child.

Sorry bud, but true realists (like myself) aren't concerned of what others think of us. If I said that abortion for women who were not raped is just an excuse for them to be promiscuous, and said women began jumping on my case about it, I'm not going to let it get to me, the way you do (I assume you do because your question seems to be a bit complainy).
The attitude you need to take is this: "I'M realistic, I'M rational, and everyone else who isn't is less of a person than I am. Peace."
Learn to turn your back on the world. We're right and they're wrong - that's the simple truth, and no amount of criticism from these little worms we call "people" will be able to faze us.

I think kicking her out was extreme. I do think it was good in one way only and thats instealing a sense of responsibility and self reliance, some would say that's eve a little to late. I dont agree with your ideas. Family is family for a reason and if you dont have them, then who do you really have? Do you have any children or a family? cuz if not dont even dare give your two-cents on something you cant relate to.

Its because in this free thinking society, people have their own ponion. And even if they are realists like yourself, they more than likely have a different opinion anyway. Get used to it, it's life. Not everyone will agree to one thing.

Typically "Realist" is another word for "cynic." And why would you agree when two parents kick their 17-year-old out? That's like saying you agree when somebody abandons their month-old puppy for trashing their living room.

Its good to be logic until an extent. My question is: If you made a mistake, how would you and other people respond? It's always the logic people who think they're perfectionists.

I don't know if you are a real "realist" as you say because a true realist wouldn't need to question what is...........nor do they feel the need to cope with others. Being a realist means that you see things as they are and that is that, no question, no coping, no doubts...........if your not understood it is their problem not yours.

I'm a realist too. and I completely understand what you mean. Often time we get misunderstood because we're willing to tell the truth when others aren't and we also tell it like it is. keep it up.
