I need some input on studio lighting kits, I have a strong lean toward Alien Bees right now, the B400's to be exact. My question is, when you need to calibrate/meter the lighting how can you do that with the Alien Bees set up? (I have a Nikon D70s).

use your light meter....whether portable one or in your D70,
adjust the number with your lighting equipment....+/- 1at most...it depends on the brightness of the subject....more bright decreasse the number....
