Here's to you! Congratulations for the rest of your life.
Make the effort to change your thinking to the reasons why you are quitting, rather than thinking how you miss those cigs. Whenever you catch yourself longing to smoke, stop right there and consciously change. If you have to, pull out your list of positives, and say them or shout them!
Don't forget to have healthy snacks on hand and lots of fruit juice and water for the first week or so.
Lots of help here: http://www.quitguide.com

If you can't go "cold turkey", you might consider tapering down to about 10 cigarettes a day or less, then using the "patch". You can wean yourself off the patch in a two weeks this way:
1) You need to be starting on the second step patch. Do not wear it while you sleep. Use it for 4 or days normally, then
2) start each day by putting the patch on a bit later each day (1 hour). It won't be so tough because you already are sleeping without the nicotine.
3) After you are down to wearing that patch for only 3 hours a day, you'll probably wonder why you're wearing it at all and stop completely.
4) Keep extra patches around for 2 months, just in case you have a relapse. You don't want to relapse to cigarettes instead.

Well hubby quit cold turkey here and so did my mother, dad and uncle. Get rid of your cigarettes and buy lots of gum to chew, suckers and hard candy.
