Geology can move mountains and allow deep sediments to become exposed over many years. For example, the deepest rock can become exposed by subduction of the outer crust under the surface. Volocano's are another possibility.

Tectonics. The Earth's crust is such a minor component of the total bulk of the Earth that comparing it to the skin on your body would greatly overstate it. As the mantle convects it moves the minuscule crust with great ease, forcing minor pimples like plutons to the surface of the Earth with impunity. I wonder how stevers_1 became a top contributor. Subduction takes crustal material and moves it beneath the surface, not the other way around.

Glaciation and erosion. Uplift can also help but some type of erosive mechanism must be present as well.
