I am taking too many meds & I feel toxic! I already take a triptan (4th one) as a quick migraine reliever, and 4 preventatives (I've tried many, many more), plus 2 meds for depression. The side effects are nasty. But live with chronic, unremmitting migraines (NOT headaches) for a few weeks, & you will be desperate enough for anything! I have been hospitalized 3 times in 4 years, & the treatment is horrible - injections of DHE with phenergan for nausea & torodol (narcotic) for pain. I will never do that again. I've taken natural supplements (many are hoaxes like Xanga), & I take organic herbs with specific vitamins. As you can tell, nothing seems to be working now, & I am fed up with traditional medicine. Acupuncture, body work, yoga all help, but they take time - & the quality varies with the practitioner. The reason I ask about marinol is 1) I'm desperate 2) it's more legal than weed 3) others I know get immediate relief from smoking weed 4) it's not covered by insurance!

First off, Toradol is NOT a narcotic, it's an anti-inflammatory. Marinol is not cheap. It's about 200 dollars without insurance for 20 5mg capsules at my local CVS. With my insurance, the copay is 40 bucks because there is no generic for it. Also, you'll probably have difficulty finding it because most pharmacies don't carry it since it is rarely prescribed and the bottle costs the pharmacy over a thousand dollars. But, the first answerer is correct-- it's not prescribed for migraines, even off-label. It's for nausea and vomitting and apetite stimulation. Are you being given this med for the nausea associated with your migraines? If so, Marinol will work wonders-- I take it for nausea from my pain meds. It also works well when combined with Phenergan.

Marinol is a nasty drug, why would you want to use it? It is not even indicated on or off label for migraines. Marinol is a capsule, and so, it is not sold by mg.
Standard treatment for migraines is OTC Excedrin migraine or prescription triptan family.
