Shampoos contain some of the same ingredients as laundry detergent and dry out hair and cause it to be puffy. Read the book and visit the site below about curly/wavy hair. The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Massaging your scalp with conditioner and rinsing are all that is needed to remove dirt. Then spread conditioner on outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold water. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. It is also important to use gel on wet hair and scrunch the hair. You really need to read the book, or at least the website, to do this successfully. Good luck!

There are products specifically designed to smooth and straighten hair. Herbal Essences has a conditioner called Pin Straight Conditioner; I haven't tried it myself, but I know people that have. They claim that it helps. You could also use a ceramic or porcelain hair straightener; they're more expensive than some varieties, but you pay for quality; it's also less damaging on your hair.

Try straightening it...with a very good straightener on the highest//hottest level it can go up too. Try herbal essenses dangerously straight shampoo, also.

All you do is blow dry your hair while you comb it. Then put in a little gel and Wahla! Your hair will (or should depend on curl factor) straighten, at least a little bit. Do this when your hair is dry.

If everything else fails, you can always put a straightener on it. You can buy it at any store but I would recommend having a professional do it. Good Luck!!
