What is the difference in saying, me gusta futbol

OR

mi me gusta futbol

Me gusta el fútbol.

There is no need to say "a mi" because it is understood that you are talking about yourself.

the difference between Me gusta el futbol and A mi me gusta el futbol is not much. Just like most people said, the "A mi" is not necessary.
