Heres something to do for the busy over worked, over stressed mother.

Make her favoite dinner and eat it with her, listen to her talk, really listen. You do not need to solve her problems, just listen and ask if there is anything you can do, and MEAN it.

have a sappy movie on hand for after dinner, and watch it with her. Gone with the wind is a good one in american, but go with the classic that she might love and not have watched for a while.

Kiss her goodnight, give her a warm hug and tell her that you love her and appreciate her and everything she does.

She will never forget this night and will cherish it forever, plus tell all her friends about what her child has done for her.

Taking care of an older adult is difficult, challenging and tiring.

Would it be possible to spread the responsibilities around? Do you have any siblings? I ask this because maybe you all can take turns doing household chores. Someone does the laundry, someone else does the dishes, housework, etc. This takes the home burden off of her. Do it regularly, not just once or twice. If she knows she can depend on her kids, that's one less thing she has to worry about.

Can someone help with the grandparents? That may be helpful, too. Who helps with the housework and the everyday stuff with grandma and grandpa? Perhaps you all can talk about that, too.

Then, on a free day/weekend, take her to the movies and out to dinner. Make this a regular event. Treat her with a night out or away fromt he stress.

You are good to be thinking of her. Now, show her what you're made of!!!!

Send her a video tape of you and whoever else of the family is there with you. You might not be able to ease her physical burdens, but you'll be surprised what a video tape can do for her and your grandfather. If she doesn't have a VHS player, I'm quite sure a local church would bring one to her to use just to view the tape. House cleaning services for a one time thing don't cost that much either. Get on the inter-net and type housecleaning into a search engine. You should be able to find one in her area. Good luck sweetie.

Just living in Ireland would be a wonderful gift to your Mother. What a beautiful place to live. I am sure your Mother is very Thankful. She would not want to leave it all behind. As us Mothers get older, sometimes all we want is for our sweet family to know that we love them and will do all we can for them. In Ireland the churches are so pretty and sacred. Take your Mom to church and then out to eat a wonderful Irish dinner at some nice restaurant. Or take her for a lovely picnic. Or just take her for a ride through the Beautiful country side of Ireland. Your Mother would not be happy, being away from her precious family. Just let her know you can help her. That is all she needs is your love and support. You are a good child of hers and I know she is grateful for all of that. Take care and may God bless you and your, Family, Always !! Happy St. Patrick's Day when it gets here.

Tell her how much you appreciate everything she is doing.

Help her with some chores around the house or offer to run some errands.

Take her out for a nice meal.

Call her for no other reason than to tell her you love her.

Buy her candy/chocolate.

I know any of the above would make my day.

Write down your feelings for Her as a Mom and role model. Maybe a poem from your heart.

I guess it depends on what she likes... but it might be easier to do something in the summer than the winter... traveling in the winter can be stressful and precarious
