if there is no cd in the rom it should be asking 'pls insert cd into drive'. i clean reinstalled my xp, i have a partition disk, so i format c drive and leave d drive as it is.

most likely a burning feature... if you drag music files into them then place a cd into the drive it makes it much easier to make an mps cd... as well as large files!
