I REALLY need a FREE ANTI-VIRUS program! I used to HAVE "AVG FreeEdition"...BUT...It did not work for me...ANYONE else know of ANYTHER FREE ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM? THANX

There are alot of great anitvirus software.
Free software are not as good as full, but I understand your problem.
McAfee is a great anti-virus software which gives you the ability to actually find viruses and remove them for free.
I hate those programs that just tell you about all the problems and "errors" on your computer, but don't let you remove them without a key that you have to pay for.
McAfee is a great choice for all your antivirus needs.
Check download.com and look up antivirus. They have all these great softwares you can download for free. Make sure you check to see if you can actually remove the errors. Don't beleive all the comments placed by the users in the "users review" tab. Judge according to what you read about it.
If your computer is in a serious mess, either buy a full version of a antivirus software, or do system restore on your computer. (it's a cd that comes with every computer) Make sure you call your computer's help center for help with your system restore. If you don't do it right, your computer could be forever lost. You could also try a family member smart with computers.

a lot of the "free" anti virus programs are bogus!many in fact are rouge companies that fool and scare you with fale alerts and findings.the best free one i know is "windows defender".do a search.i still believe its worth every penny to buy it.norton,mcvee are the best.

why didn't AVG work for you? There is a new version out, 7.5 that you can get at http://free.grisoft.com
This version is still free.
