I think I understand what Melanie was trying to say HOWEVER I don't think child predators can be rehabilitated.Sex offenders should not be set free on an unsuspecting public. I just keep thinking that the victim never gets a second chance , you can't regain your innocence once it is ripped from you.I don't know about the legalities or accuracy of such websites. The only thing I can say is be diligent in supervising your children .Be careful to not make your children afraid of living.

i used that to see how many lived in close proximity to my childs school. It is a useful site, however, we need to remember that it is for convicted sex offenders of all types, which means not only child predators but also billy who got charged with statutory rape for sleeping with his girlfriend who was 6 months younger than him and just shy of legal. Regardless it is a very useful site and can be a reminder to always keep a close eye on our children.

I'm gonna make enemies here but here goes. I agree that predators need to be kept away from children. I don't however agree that you should kick them out of your neighborhood without just cause. If they've been to prison they've served their time then they deserve to live their lives. Their are so many laws now against where they can't live, where they can't be, what they have to do its unbelieveable. For 60% of them I figure it's needed. For the other 40% I don't think so. Some really do reform. If they are kept locked in a special box with a red light on top of it and signs pointing to them, chances are they are going to reoffend. If we give them a chance to have a job and a place to live and the therapy they need, then they might actually stop doing what they were doing. It's time people like you stopped panicking the world. We give murders another shot. We allow them among us, and we never know when they will snap and kill more. We allow the drug dealers who keep supplying our neighborhoods to come back. It's really time to be fair across the board. We have to get control somehow, and jobs, homes, and therapy might be a start. It's becoming almost common place for sex offenders. There are so many of them now. It's not like it was years ago when it was an occassional thing. It's happening alot. So how bout being PRODUCTIVE and coming up with ways to help rehabilitate these people. Everyone can complain, but not everyone can be compassionate and come up with solutions.

I agree I looked at a different web-site and my mind got the best of me thinking of all these people in the area. All I can suggest is to watch your children no matter what because some of these people live closer than you think and there not turning up on these web-sites.

Great website! I just checked it out.
Thanks for sharing!
And in response to the poster above me...does she not know that sexual predators are the LEAST likely to be able to be rehabilited sucessfully, child predators in particular??? Child predators are almost GUARANTEED to re-commit.
Give them a second chance?? Give them a shot?? They lost that opportunity. They don't deserve a hand shake and a smile. These creeps deserve a huge neon banner in their front yard saying "CHILD PREDATOR."
Of course, I think child predators should be in jail for life and shouldn't be given the opportunity for rehabilitation...and I certainly don't think they should be able to roam the streets and move into communities.

Is there such site for Australia?....Plus always pay to be aware, if he is going to reoffend and he knows that this information is on the web he may go to a totally different area away from his home to find his next victim. ALWAYS BE AWARE!!!

that is pretty scary. thanks for the address to that site. i have to say though if they have served their time you cannot get them kicked out of a community no matter how freaky and dangerous it may be....unfortunately. I am freaking surrounded by child molesters. i think sexually predators should have harsher punishment and child molesters should be put on an island by themselves and left to die....bastards. i mean some of the people around me got freaking probation or a few months in jail. then other less sick crimes people get years for. you have to wonder about the justice system.

Watchdog is pretty good. I have a few additional sites. You can also go to your state police web page and find many additional links. They also have "amber alerts" listings and much more.
