Im going to to puerto vallarta on sunday. i have a passport, but is that all i should bring with me when it comes to a form of ID? Should i bring my Social Security card? please let me know

Passport only is fine. Just make a couple of photocopies of the inside 2 pages with your picture and the long numbers. Leave one at home with your family, and carry the other with you in another piece of luggage. If you lose your passport or it's stolen, it will be a lot easier to replace if you have that photocopy with you.

your social security card is not identification and you really don't want that number floating around. Just your passport is fine and your driver's license will be all your need along with travel documents.

That passport is all you need... you will sail through. Just make certain it is not expired! They will not ask for anything else.
