I'm 21 years old and my hair is almost completely black. In general, I'm completely unsatisfied with any conventional color. I want to dye all of my hair a dark grey so before I experiment with bleaches and dyes, I'm interested in suggested methods & experiences. I'm looking for the most permanent solutions & I'm not really concerned with what the condition of my hair will be as a result or my chemical endeavors, just as long as it's not falling out. And I don't mind any strange tints. There are no alternative salons where I'm located, nor do I even want to spend a ridiculous amount of money for something I can do myself. Please don't ask me why, I'm only interested in answers, not so much in opinions. Thank you!

Funny how people still give u opinions when you said you werent interested! Anyway.....in order to get any other color than black, you will have to get that out.....coloring over it will do nothing. Go to sally's or something like that and get Uncolor to lift the black. It will come out a very odd color.....but if you want unconventional....hey it might be just what you want!! You can then put color over that. Try getting some of the funky colors from hot topic!

I am 77 have white/grey hair, Have never smoked, but my hair has developed yellow patches IPigment?)
I absolutely hate it! Especially as someone recently commented on it and said that they could tell I had been a smoker! Is there a grey dye I can purchase, (semi-permanent?)

sure, while you're placing out to bypass gray, i think of that's by way of clairol or loreal, i think of that's noted as sensational silver, in the experience that your hair is popping gray/or silver greater effective than 50% and that's difficult to administration why do no longer you dye it a greater Platinum blonde colour (incredibly much white), that way the maintenance would be quite hassle-free.

for me it depends upon the girl. Like I might notice a girl with black hair and think she is totally hot yet see a girl with blond tresses that is meh and vice versa.

You can't dye black hair grey. It's just not possible. You could possibly give your hair a weird greyish sheen but that's about all.
To make your hair grey you would first have to bleach it white (or a pale blond) and then use a product to make it grey. "L'oreal grey chic" should do the trick - it is not too expensive and you can get it by mail order from l'oreal.
It is tested on animals sadly though. :,¬(

I'm a stylist what I can tell you 1st of all you color hair ,you dye clothes. And you will have to strip your hair of all natural color and then lift your hair to the shade you want ----no bleaching.

Sorry there is no good way and anyway those of us who have earnt our grey locks in the usual manner do not approve of imitators. It is a very special and unique quality that has been truly earned by those who possess it without the aid of chemicals!
