Thalessemias are genetic disorders leading to decreased synthesis of alpha or beta-globin chains of hemoglobin, which is required by red blood cells to carry oxygen to your body's tissues. In your case, thalessemia minor is a heterozygous form of the disorder, with most patients usually being asymptomatic or with mild anemia if present. In other words, it's nothing to really worry about, but be sure to tell your doctor if you're feeling tired, sick, weak, etc.

A fellow sufferer! I too, have it. It is NOT life-threatening at all. Basically, you are anemic and your body does not make enough red blood cells. You need to eat lots of protein, take a multivitamin and get plenty of rest when you can. It's not even a big deal. You just cannot donate blood (they don't want thal blood) or have a child with another person that has it because then the child could be born with Thal major, which IS life-threatening. Those are the precautions, but you will be able to lead a normal life! :)
