What kind of holster should I get with it?

My concealed carry pistol is a Springfield Armory XD45 Tactical, carried in a Blackhawk Serpa Carbon paddle holster.

Of course, my normal dress is jeans and an untucked shirt, and I have a very athletic build.

Most people prefer an inside waistband holster for concealed carry, if they can wear a covering garment, such as an untucked shirt, vest, or coat. Keep in mind that both the Glock and the XD are fairly thick guns. A 1911-style pistol, such as a Kimber Pro Carry, or Kimber Ultra Carry, will probably fit better in your waistband.

As for which pistol to get, that's entirely up to you. YOU need to find out which one fits your hand best, and which you're able to shoot best.

My personal preference is the XD45 (I'm assuming you're meaning the XD45, since you're also listing the Glock 36). I haven't shot the subcompact version, though, and have no interest in it because I don't like grips that short. I do have both the XD45 Service and Tactical versions, and they're absolutely great guns. I've owned a Glock 30, but got rid of it because I hated the grip. I do like my Glock 19 very much, but I've done a bit of work on the grip, sanding off the finger grooves molded into the frontstrap.

Anyway, before I get completely off the subject, get yourself to a gun store and see which feels best for you.

Either will do. Personal preference and cost are really the deciding factors. I like them both but I think the XD is a better than the Glock.

I myself carry a Springfield Armory Micro 1911 with night sights. I just ordered a new holster for it, a Galco NSA which is an inside the waist ban holster. I shoot 1911 style pistols in competition and prefer the single action trigger. But unless you are intimately familiar with the 1911 I would not choose one. The light crisp trigger is a wonder aid to shooting but you can have an accidental discharge easily under the strain of an armed confrontation.

Good luck

I am glad you picked a Glock but sorry to say, I'm not a subcompact fan, just to small for me. As for a holster try Galco's ISW, I use one for my G23 and there shoulder rigs for my 2-G35s.

Good luck.

Go for the XD, Glocks are overrated.
