Okay, I'm 13 years old and I'm extremely intrested in magic. I wanted to know if it was possible for some more...instant spells- ones that you dont have to light a billion candles for.
And for all of you devout christians: don't worry. I'm not turning against God (I AM involved in my church) but I like to see the other side of things. That and I've always adored fantasy.
Thank you!

Chris Angel and David Copperfield type illusion is an aspect of the entertainment business that can be learned. Dabbling in the occult at the age of 13 kind of reminds me of a moth extremely interested in the light of a bug zapper or a camp fire. Insects have always adored bright light's at night, but rarely did it work out in their favor. Have your parents take you to a Disney theme park, and remember that "Magic", the closest you should get to that stuff is a Harry Potter book, and even that raises questions among those "devout Christians" you mentioned.

"Magic" is not possible, but evil is, and the occult is the spiritual equivalent of a sewer or cesspool. No good can come from playing there.

Before you go around casting spells, you should quit fantasizing about magic, and spend some time studying Wicca, instead of wanting some instant spells. Magic is not for playing with. You need to learn the basic principles behind it. Whatever you send out comes back to you threefold. A spell can back fire, with serious consequences. There are basic things you should understand, like how to protect your self psychically, how to ground excess energies, and how to clear out excess or negative energies. I have heard it recommended before that one should study daily for at least a year and a day, sounds good to me, I studied for years before I ever even thought about casting a spell. If you want to talk about fantasy, even in Harry Potter, and The Craft, misuse of magic contains major consequences, and it doesn't work that way for most people in the real world any way, it's a form of prayer.
Edit: As Litha said, there is such a thing as a Christian Witch, and when you cast a spell in that way, you just use Christian symbols, instead of Wiccan symbols, for example, a cross instead of a pentagram, and use Christian imagery to form the basis of your prayer, for example directing it to Jesus, or to a saint, instead of the Goddess... But the basic principles apply, no matter what symbols you use, you need the basic knowledge first.... Perhaps Wicca: a guide for the solitary practicioner, by Scott Cunningham.

Magick is real... it is possible.. I would suggest doing lots and lots of research before doing any spells... study study study and study more.. Attempting to do a spell that seems to be innocent can turn out wrong or bad and back fire on you x's 3.
But you can perform witchcraft and still believe in christianity. even tho some or rather most christians wont agree with me there, but there are some christian witches... But like I said study and learn all you can before attempting a spell...

After all when you pray you are actaully doing magick.. correct me if I am wrong but when you pray do you not put more energy into the prayer? when the church gathers together and prays at the same time for something or someone they are putting more energy into the prayer.. Thats basically like magick since you put your energy into the spell and thats what makes a spell work is the energy you put in it..

Magic, like you see on TV or in the movies is not possible. Sorry to tell you this. The magic that Witches, Wiccans and the like use is different. That kind of magic is created by using intent and a lot of patience. It takes time for the result. Magic like you see on Charmed is not real. Things don't just appear out of nowhere instantaneously. Magic that is used by Witches, use candles to focus their intent to allow it to come ot fruition. Fantasy magic, like in books and in movies doesn't exist. Real magic does and takes time.

Like that one guy said, magick isn't something to be fooling around with, take some time and read a few books on it, study it, see if anything interests you first. It's another one of those things you really have to believe in. Try reading any of Silver Ravenwolf's books.

I have seen people play at magic by pretending to be wicca. Other than wasting a bunch of time, I've never seen them accomplish anything.

I have also seen people who've try to do magic "for real". Everyone I've seen try has suffered ill. Nothing good comes of it. I can't say I've ever seen any supernatural effect be directed to their purpose, but I have seen what happens when people open themselves up to demonic influence. If they give the demons permission to enter their lives; they've given permission for masters of deception to ruin them. That is usually what happens; the demons torment those foolish enough to court them with fear beyond anything they've experienced. And, of course, nobody believes them. Most folks I know who've tried it commited suicide out of terror and despair.

I also enjoy fantasy. The Lord of the Rings is one of my favorites. But, decades ago, I also had an interest in magic in real life. I studied for about a year, and thirty years later wish I could forget what I learned...what I saw.

Nothing comes from this "knowledge" but fear. Don't repeat my mistake. Drop it and walk away. There is nothing magic claims to have done, which science cannot already do.

Magic is practiced in many different religious traditions, including Christianity and Judaism:

http://www.lilitu.com/jap/

However, it's not just a matter of reading some words out of a book and lighting a candle -- magic is all about intent and the power of one's will, and without willpower magic is nothing. (In fact, all the physical objects used in magic are, in my opinion, simply props to aid in that focus of the will.) In order to strengthen one's focus it's recommended that you practice meditation and mindfulness exercises.

I advise you to stay away from anything by Silver Ravenwolf, for reasons outlined in the following essay:

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me.

Best of luck to you!

I must first mention that if you are a Christian, magic has NO place in your life! And being thirteen you need to stay away from stuff that have major consiquences...

Keep in mind this: the first sinner wasn't Adam and Eve, it was the devil, and the first sin commited, was rebellion.

Inorder for you to even CONSIDER this is to know fully what it is and what it does... Magic is the belief in changing natural things by using 'supernatural' powers...

Now what are those supernatural powers you ask? I'm glad you ask. :D

Powers that are contrary to God! And that is negative power, my friend!

You see Satan and his angels come as of light and good, to fool senseless people.

People who pratice magick (witches, wiccans, warlocks, whatever!), use "deities", "spirits", for their spells, but WHAT ARE these deities and spirits is the question! Just see what I wrote above.

The Bible says, test the spirits. As a Christian the Bible is your how-to what-to-do manual!

The Bible also says, what relationship has light with darkness.

Because trust me, when you use magic to harm people you really are harming yourself--I SHOULD KNOW!

I REGRET the things I dabbled in last year, and the year before that--AND to think...it started out with a simply fortune telling advice....

The degree that the OCCULT had grasp of me was unimaginable in 2005. What I'm saying is don't you open a door which you have NO business opening, because once it's open it really is hard to close.

Til then, read your Bible (because that is God instruction on how to deal with everything in your life), know Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Savior, and stay in church and fellowship with people who have faith in God and that will treat you right when it comes to staying on the RIGHT path.

Dear, I give it a very low order of probability, sorry. Don't let your fondness for fantasy lead you into magical thinking. There's no cheese down that tube.
