for years i have been shaving my arms and sides of my face. I am sick of shaving, but am to embarassed to let it grow out to do anything about it. its got to the point where i have to shave every day. does anyone know what i could do? I would grow my arm hair out, but after shaving for so long, it will come back very very dark and thick. but I am also embarassed that my arms are so hairless. is there a way to thin the hair?
or does anyone have any other suggestions?
thanks

im really embarassed to let the hair on my face grow out, or els i would consider bleaching it. plus, if i did decide to let it grow out, it would be very thick from shaving it for so long.

I used to suffer from facial hair and I had it bad and not just on my face either. Some days I feared I was turning into a man! I went to my doctor and they put me on the pill dianette which helps with facial hair, acne and skin problems. It took three months before I started to see a difference but I do. The hair is no where near as bad as it used to be plus the hair that still grows takes a lot longer to grow. You should first consult your doctor and I know it is embarrassing but they are doctors at the end of the day and see all bits and pieces of peoples body's. Laser treatment is another way but costs a lot of money and you can't get it on the national health service. For your arms you can actually have them waxed which would be cheaper then laser treatment although painful at first. But the more you wax the lesser the pain becomes over time.

Absolutely, there's a way to thin the hair. Laser treatments. It'll be MUch thinner after only one treatment. After one treatment they'll be hairless for about two months, then come in about half the thickness. Cost might be $200 to do both arms once. In a couple years you might want to do another treatment. It will come back even finer then.

I agree on laser hair removal being the best option. You can also get financing for the treatments so that it is made more affordable. Make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing. The attached sites have reputable providers who have complimentary consultations and the second site scores them based on previous customers survey responses.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are “permanent” hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

With your particular case, I think I would consider laser hair removal. If you decide to go that route, please make sure you research the place you go, make sure the person doing it has a good deal of experience with it (my former supervisor had laser treatment by an inexperienced doctor to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on her face and was burned).

i second the laser hair removal choice, especially for areas like the face.
but if that's too costly, you might want to consider dying your hair. they have lightening kits that make hair seem less noticable without having to be completely shaven off.
