his teeth would have got hurt while the door hit him. when there is a sudden impact on your teeth the blood vessels tend to bleed inside the tooth structure. . as you know blood once it clots turns rather black.
the blood clot is being reflected through the enamel as a greyish shade. the tooth is going to get darker and darker as weeks pass by..
i don't think you got to take it very seriously sinse anyway your baby is going to get his new incisors out in a couple of years. if he complains of pain on and off then you got to consult a dentist ,since that would be an indication that the tooth is getting infected ,otherwise you could let it pass.

Sounds like the teeth were traumatized enough to kill the nerve in the teeth. He will need a pulpotomy (baby root canal). Simple procedure really but with him being so young you do not want to pull the teeth since it's still a couple years or more before the others erupt. He needs those baby teeth to serve as guides for his permanent teeth. Also I would recommend that if you don't think he will be cooperative with having a local anesthetic (can be scary for young kids, hell, even most adults), have him either sedated with valium or have the work done under I.V. sedation. You can also put off the work as long as possible but then you risk the teeth becoming abcessed (infected) & you will know that's the case if he has what looks like a blister or bubbling on his gums. However sometimes you can have a abcess & it not be visible without an xray. Hopefully I have provided some insight for you to know what to expect when you do get into see your dentist.

They are dying. You need to get him to the dentist. They will need to come out. Don't let the doctor talk you into doing some kind of root canal to save the teeth. They will be coming out at some point anyway. The adult teeth below these 2 dying teeth need to be checked by xray to make sure they are alright. Injuries to teeth can go all the way to the jaw bone.

his teeth were traumatized when the door slammed on them...the gray that you see is caused by the tooth nerve deteriorating... you can't brush this out since this is not surface stain but deeper inside the tooth layer... also check his gum right above the teeth for any bumps, indicating infection draining... and the worst of all this is that he would need a "baby" root canal in order to treat the infection or even extraction.

It sounds like the roots may have been damaged and that the teeth are dying.
You need to get him to a dentist ASAP. The teeth may be unsavable and be pulled, but at least they're just baby teeth.

CRAZYKAT,
WHAT'S HAPPENED IS THAT WHEN THE TEETH WERE TRAUMATIZED BY THAT DOOR, THE IMPACT CAUSED INTERNAL BLEEDING. WHEN THE TEETH HAD INTERNAL BLEEDING THIS STATED TO TURN DARK, EVEN GRAY. THE TEETH MUST GET PULPOTOMIES TO BOTH TEETH AND STAINLESS STEEL CROWNS.
THE ALTERNATIVE IS TO EXTRACT THEM, BUT DOING SO AT THIS AGE MAY IMPACT THE WAY THE PERMANENT CHANGES TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY ERUPT.
SINCE HE'S ONLY 3.5 YEARS OLD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A PEDIATRIC DENTIST.

when teeth start turning gray after injury, it means they are dying. if he has no pain, you can leave them. see what the dentist says. it won't look too good, but his other teeth will eventually come in.
