Diabetes interferes with the effectiveness of the circulatory system. Less blood is delivered by the arteries...so the oxygenation of the tissues isn't normal. In some cases the tissues die...due to lack of oxygen...and gangrene sets in...which necessitates the removal of the limb. It most often happens in the legs...because they are the largest limb...and require the most oxygen.

the problem associated with diabetes is that if the disease gets out of control ----- circulatory problems can arise. Also due to the circulatory problems, if the person with diabetes contracts a sore or infection in the lower leg or feet area, their ability to heal is hampered by diabetes.

If the sore can lead to other more serious problems like gangerine --- because diabetics dont heal rapidly . Always consult your doctor when foot and leg sores or infections occur to reduce the possibility of amputation.

Yeah when a diabetic does not control their blood sugars a lot of bad things can happen. In this case they have decreased circulation and the leg(s) become gangrenous, so the only option is amputation. Other things that can happen when a diabetic does not control their blood sugars is they can lose vision or become blind, experience kidney failure, have cardiovascular problems, and will eventually die from these conditions. This usually only happens when a diabetic does not take care of themselves properly. Diabetics who have control over their blood glucose levels have a good chance of avoiding these conditions.

circulation is decreased in people with diabetes, so a little infection turns into a bad one, and they can't heal as well. So, if the infection can't be cured, and it's spreading, the only way to save the life,is to cut off the leg,or toes.

When a person has diabettes their body ususally doesnt work the way that it needs to. You see them slow down sometimes and when they get injured it is harder for their immune system to heal from that injury. They are more suseptable to infection and sometimes despite all modren advances they have to amputate to keep the infection from getting into the blood

Part of the problem with diabetes is poor blood circulation

It starts with loosing one leg to gangrene, then another leg

The body cannot fight infections and it's better to get rid of the root of the problem than have the infection spread and get worse.
