You need your sleep so you can be sharp for school. Right now most Americans don't get enough sleep and they get sick more often. When they get older this can lead to serious health problems. So listen to your dad when he says it's bed time.

I agree with your Dad. You need a certain amount of hours of sleep to function best at school. If you live under your Dad's roof, then you follow his rules and regulations. Your Dad wants only the best for you and you should abide by his rules. He does this because he cares and loves you. You Mom should have rules in her home too. I am sorry but she is wrong not having a time for bedtime for you. You are going to realize one day, that we cannot do whatever we want in our lives and we all live with some rules.

Sounds like to me your dad is someone who understands what kids need to be healthy even if it makes the kid mad. That takes a really good parent as so many want to be your friend and not make kids mad. You are old enough to understand that he has your best interests at heart. I'll bet you are doing much better in school, aren't you? Now, go give him a hug and tell him you love him as much as he is showing he loves you. You are so lucky to have a dad who cares as I did not and it wasn't fun.

Its just the dad thinking he is responsible for you and wants to know you are safe and in bed when he is. Just sit him down and have a heart to heart talk and tell him the 9 pm thing bothers you and why and tell him you love and respect him but you just have to learn to be more adult yourself by knowing you have to be in bed early because you have a test and you are nevous about it. Its all in how you word it to your dad. Take care Heather

Sounds like your mom is trying to be more of a friend than a parent. This is not what you want, belive me, I just came from that situation myself (i'm 25). She is not doing you any good by not giving you rules to live by. One day you will wish she had.

Well, your dad is a little more lenient than I would be. I'd make your butt go to bed by 8:30pm. So, prepare yourself for bed and nitey night!

kids need more sleep, and parents need down time together, family isn't only about the kids, i adore my child but i looked forward to tucking him in at night and then being with my hubby or just relaxing.,
