Is there any way I can make teriyaki sauce sugar-free? And I mean make it from scratch, those bottled sauces out there are too salty and sugary! I'm diabetic and have to watch my salt intake. Any recipes would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone in advance!

Basically, Teriyaki sauce is soy sauce with honey. Sometimes other things are added. Soy sauce is a salted fermented product. Soy and teriyaki are going to be salty. There is a honey that diabetics can use. Making it from scratch includes the fermentation process. You could try the recipe given in the answer before and use Nosalt of Losalt the potassium salt available for low sodium diets and Tupelo honey or try a sweetner. With the pepper, sesame, garlic and ginger, you will have a similar product.

There is a lot of stuff on the internet that is basically fat-shaming diabetics for causing their own diabetes with their bad diet and lack of exercise and general lack of moral fibre. A lot of this stuff is written by non-doctors, often with a supplement or diet or training plan to sell that they claim will completely cure diabetes if only people stick to it.

I read this interesting book https://tr.im/FmZDI that gave me a lot of useful tips about my disease and also a different perspective on the best therapeutical approach. I think you should read it too.

I hope it helps
