Yes, in many scriptures everlasting Life or death are promised based on our Faith and Salvation in Jesus Christ.
Matthew 18:8 - Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
Matthew 19:29 - And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
2 Thessalonians 1:9 - Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
2 Thessalonians 2:16 - Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

Which translation, from which world view? If the Bible was originally written in Aramaic then it is more likely that it speaks of ripeness or unripeness, unity or confusion.

Everlasting life is just wishfull thinking. Christians seem to use the deluded prospect of heaven as a mental crutch.

The Bible speaks of both. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him Will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Now let's break this verse down piece by piece.
"For God so loved the world"---That's you! God loves you! You don't have to wonder ever again if somebody loves you. God has said it Himself. God loves you!
"..that He gave His only Son"---God showed how much He loves you by giving His Son, Jesus Christ for you. Why did God give His Son for you? We have all sinned against God. Sin is any disobedient act against God. Breaking one of the Ten Commandments is an example of sin:"You shall not lie", "You shall not steal", "You shall not take the name of the Lord God in vain", etc. We are all sinners. Our sins have separated us from God. Being a good person and doing good things won't bridge the gap that sin has put between God and you. The only bridge between God and you is God's Son, Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Jesus has always been. He is absolutely pure. He is the One True God. He has never known sin. God sent His Son Jesus from heaven to earth, born of the virgin Mary. Jesus Christ came to earth as the God-Man, all God and all Man yet without sin. But Jesus came to earth to die on a cross for you. That's what the Bible means when it says God gave His only Son for you. Jesus was stretched out on a wooden cross. He took nails through His hands and His feet for you. When Jesus was on the cross, God the Father took your sins and my sins and laid them on Christ. I don't know how that happened, but the Bible says it did; so I know it happened. Christ paid for your sins in full. You don't have to pay for your sins. Jesus was crucified for you! He was raised from the dead 3 days later for you! He went back up into heaven. He sits on His throne, with His nail-scarred hand outstretched to you!
"...that whoever believes in Him"---We must (must) believe in God's Son, the Lord Jesus Christ if we want to be forgiven of our sins and go to heaven---be saved. Now believing means more than just acknowledging with our head that we believe. We must trust the Lord Jesus and open our heart to Him. We must tell Him that we trust in His shed blood and death on the cross as the only means of having our sins forgiven. We must trust Him. That's what it means to really believe in Him.
"...will not perish"---The Bible says that if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior we will not perish. So obviously if we don't accept Him as our Savior we will perish. Whenever the Bible talks about a person perishing it does not mean that person dies and then ceases to exist. No. When the Bible talks about the unsaved perishing it means that person's soul is in eternity, lost without God, in a place called hell...forever. You and I will live forever. But where?
"...but have eternal life"---WOW! The second a person opens her heart to Jesus Christ, accepting Him as her Lord and Savior, she receives eternal life! It's not something she will get one day in the future, or when she dies. The second she simply trusts Jesus as her Lord and Savior she has eternal life from that moment on! Once you receive God's free gift of eternal life you can never lose it! Eternal life is yours forever! You can know for sure that when you die you will go to heaven. Eternal life is not just a quantity of life. It's not just life forever. When the Bible talks about eternal life it includes not just life forever, but a quality of life. In Jesus is the happiness, peace, meaning, purpose, motivation, direction, and fulfillment that your heart desires.
