I am wanting to go to a lighter color than I do now...like dirty blonde or lighter. I have a warm brown..it looks red in the sun...but its brown..lol. What should i do without turning my hair red when i dye my hair blonde.

Probably best, that if you have not done this before to go to a hairdresser and have them do it professionally the first time for you. Its a lot easier to maintain the roots yourself than to successfully pull off your whole head when you are dark.
If this is not an option for you, source a hairdressing supply store, the sales assistants will be able to provide you with assistance and advice and will help you to find the perfect products to achieve the colour that you want.

You have to bleach your hair first, and then you can go blonde.

you'll have to strip it of color first. i'd see a pro to make sure you get it right.
