where is the line between being courteous/"chivalrous" to a girl and "getting whipped"?

Biggest Difference- Perspective!
Sorry it's just sometimes a guy will look at something and say wow he's whipped and the girls will "awww".

I think another major difference is the guy. My current bf has alway been chivalrous to everyone. He holds doors open for people, he drives in the snow to pick up a friend at work who's too scared to drive home, he's willing to move a friend's furniture from house to house without pay, he tries to alwys be courteous and helpful. So even as my bf nobody calls him whipped even though he helps me with cleaning my room, or picking up my heavy shopping bags. So i guess it depends on the person and the perspective of the one's who see.

"You're so whipped!" is Guy Friend Speak for "You're getting some and I'm not, you bastard! I'm so jealous!"

My husband has had his brothers and friends tell him he's whipped now and then, to which his response is usually a big smirk and, "Why yes, I am. And maybe if you're good, one day YOU'LL be as whipped as me."

That said, be courteous, but not obsequious or fawning. Offering her your arm when you walk together is courteous, walking three steps behind her carrying her parcels, purse, and cell phone is whipped.

Buying her a great pair of shoes on her birthday is courteous. Going into serious debt to buy her things whenever she wants them is whipped.

Making sure she has a great time in bed and is always satisfied first is courteous. Letting her sleep with all your friends is whipped.

Losing a little bit of weight and buffing up your bod at her request is chivalrous - letting her take naked pictures and charge people to look at them on the Net is whipped.

i think the main difference is whether you want to do it. If you do nice things because it ,makes you happy = courtesy. If you feel pressured to do it = whipped.

It is difficult to draw the line, some take courtesy for weakness. Or chivalry for obsequiousness. I suppose you just have to risk it and hope for the best.

also sort of depends on the guy. my fiance does nice things for me all the time without me asking, some of it ive never asked for, he just does it anyway because he is nice like that. ask his friends though, they will say he is whipped. but ive never asked him to do any of these things, so he isnt really.
