The bible said incest is wrong, but is there a moral and very reasonable idea to this? Why would God forbid it? How is it 'wrong'?

Most of the social morals were designed keep few factors in mind. These factors were - Hygiene, health, social progress and harmony.

Incest goes against two of these. It can bring in weaker generation which would be against the health factor. It can create social regression as people would be more inclined towards there own family and social interactions would be affected.

Morals are designed to equip mankind. Following your desires and ignoring your morals would gradually disturb the balance of the society. And if you think what has society gotta do with me - well you are a part of the society, ain't you?

All the best...

:-)

Since Adam and Eve were the first (and only) human beings, their children would have no other choice than to intermarry. God did not forbid inter-family marriage until much later when there was enough people that intermarriage was not necessary (Leviticus 18:6-18). The reason that incest often results in genetic abnormalities in children is that when two people of similar genetics (i.e. a brother and sister) have children – genetic defects are far more likely to result because both parents had the same defects themselves. When people from different families have children – it is highly unlikely that both parents will have the same genetic defects. The human genetic code has become increasingly “polluted” over the centuries as genetic defects are multiplied, amplified, and passed down from generation to generation.

There is nothing wrong to marry a sister. A well known industrialist ( I will not give his name) marry his own sister for the sake of wealth, so that no third person will acquire their wealth.

The main reason lies in the fact that if either brother or sister carry weak genes, or other kind of blood abnormalities, their offspring will have those abnormalities as major. E.g, if the sister is carrier of Thelesemia (minor) and also brother is having Thelesemia, their offspring will have Thelesemia (Major). Thus marriage is generally not advisable between the children of the same parent or between first cousins.

Looking at the social values, the society will not accept the marriage and they will be out-casted. Its not a big problem if you don't care for society but something worth considering as we live in society of well organised crimes.

Originally, humans had a very wide variety of DNA in their mak-up. At that time, there was no danger of health problems from intermarriage, even with one's own siblings. However, something happened that caused a lot of inter-marrying of relatives, & this narrowed the DNA variations. (This is described in the following article.)

The weaknesses began to become more pronounced. Such can cause either chronic long-term weaknesses, or even fatal abnormalities. So , God then forbid intermarriage within one's family. ... Knowing about this danger & ignoring it, is wrong, as it shows a lack of respect for God, & a lack of love for one's family.

It's ingrained in our biology to not pursue direct blood relatives. We are repelled by their pheromones (well not totally, but just in the sexual sense) because to procreate with them means possibly recombining two alleles that may have been heterozygous in each parent, but have a high chance of expressing as the homozygous trait in the child (which could be fatal or result in severe developmental problems). Further forbidding incest by religious and moral law helps prevent this from happening.

It is morally wrong. We do not live in those biblical age, where justification is drawn. Many countries have made it legally crime and punishable with deterent sentence. Genetically the offsprings will suffer. it is incest if one marries his biological sister. Surely there are others (females) on this planet you can choose to marry. Pray hard, you will blessed with an answer.

Is Bible u r refering to is original one ? No book like Taurah , Zaboor , Injeel(Bible) is in original form. All underwent alterations & arbitrary changes several times, a process still taking place every year. Then where is the authenticity & correctness ? All original words of God were destroyed . Only Al Qur-aan is in original & authentic form & not even a letter in it is changed so far( even anti Islamic literature like Encyclopaedia Britannica says this). It is indestructible till Qayamat as it is in such beautiful & sweet Arabic that it can be memorised by a 6 year old child too , even by those ones who do not understand the Arabic language. There r about 1,00,00,000 haafizs(who have memorised it). So, if all copies of Qur-aan r destroyed , they will not go out of the minds of people & will be reprinted again. This is a challenge. That's why it is the only original book of God giving true teachings of only true religion of God. All others r bogus. Qur-aan says that marrying a sister is illegal. That is God's order. Read the meaning of Qur-aan Surah 'An-nisaa'.

Religions bar & prohibit it. Islam forbids marrying a sister and Judaism/Christianity too. Muslims blindly believe and follow Islam, the Quran and Teachings of the Last Prophet. Others too are accepting and appreciating them as and when they acquire thorough knowledge and gain experience.

There are no specific authoritative and authentic teachings in Hinduism. Hinduism is not a religion. It is a culture, custom, tradition, ritual, rite, etc. of Hindus in Hindustan (India).
